2019 Volunteer Program
The deadline to apply for the 2019 Volunteer Program is June 3rd, 2019. After review of your application and confirmation by the festival team, you will be sent an email with training information and a link to pay the $15.00 Volunteer Fee (fee does not apply to volunteers that have been with the team for 5 years or less). Volunteer positions are not guaranteed, you might be moved if you are needed in a different position.
Please review the list of positions below that are available
Duties include roaming festival grounds and being available to answer patron questions; alert on-site security and paramedics if they see a medical issue; monitoring the status of the grounds and alerting facilities if needed (i.e toilet paper restock, overflowing trash cans, etc.)
Duties include greeting attendees and remind them of rules and festival policies at entrance; scan tickets and apply wristbands to patrons
Duties include age identification of 21+ patrons within festival grounds
VIP / Grand Club / Sky Lounges:
Duties include monitoring entrances / exits for VIP, Grand Club, and Sky Lounges; answering patron questions and addressing concerns within VIP areas; monitoring the status of VIP areas and alerting facilities if needed (i.e. overflowing trash cans, toilet paper restock, wiping down tables)
Check-in volunteers; Scan and Wristband patrons at the VIP entrance
Terms and Conditions
All Volunteers are representatives of the Common Ground Music Festival and must abide by all policies, rules and regulations of the festival and venue while supporting the Common Ground Music Festival. Volunteer roles include no monetary compensation. Failure to perform duties as expected and required may result in dismissal from the Volunteer program.
YOU MUST BE 16 YEARS OF AGE TO VOLUNTEER, NO EXCEPTIONS
As a returning and/or invited volunteer, please understand that volunteer assignments are made on a first-come, first-serve basis, subject to experience and availability of the volunteer. We will do our best to place you in your first choice, but remember that we cannot guarantee your number one choice. It is our objective for each Volunteer of the Common Ground Music Festival to experience multiple aspects of the festival operations. Volunteers are members of the "cast", every role serves its purpose and contributes to the overall enjoyment of our patrons.
We depend on your commitment to the Festival. If your schedule must change, or if you have an emergency, please contact your Team Chair immediately, or call the Festival office at (517) 267-1502.
Volunteers are required to work at least two (2), six (6)-hour shifts throughout the event. In other words, you must commit to a minimum of twelve (12) hours of work. Of course, we can always use your help with additional time prior to and during the event, so please let your Team Leader know if you are interested.
You report directly to your Team Chair for all assignments during the Festival. Please report directly to your Chair immediately following check-in each night you are scheduled to Volunteer. Your Chair will approve breaks throughout the evening if needed.
1) Free entry for the Volunteer ONLY after completing first assigned shift.
2) Refreshments and a meal during scheduled shifts.
3) A Volunteer T-Shirt to wear while on shift and keep as a memento.
4) A commemorative Common Ground Festival volunteer pin.
5) Inclusion in the Kick-off/Training Session date TBA
6) Use of the Volunteer Hospitality Tent during your volunteer shift(s).
7) 10% discount on all Festival tickets, while supplies last. You must submit and complete your registration prior to June 1st, 2018 in order to receive Volunteer admission pricing.
8) Opportunity to win prizes during scheduled shifts at the Volunteer Hospitality Tent.
Arrival and Breaks
Please arrive through the volunteer entrance only. You will not be admitted into the Festival through any other entrance without a ticket. You must check in and out with your Team Chair for every shift to qualify and receive credit for free admission and benefits. Breaks will be coordinated by the Chairs for each area and will be given at their discretion.
Meals and Beverages
Non Alcoholic Beverages are provided to all volunteers while working, see your Chair for approved break times. Alcoholic beverages may not be consumed before or during your shift, or at anytime while you are wearing your volunteer t-shirt. You must change out of your volunteer t-shirt, go the Volunteer Tent, check out, show a valid State ID or Driver’s License and get a valid wristband to consume alcoholic beverages after completion of your shift. Violation of this rule will result in immediate dismissal and forfeit of your registration fee and any benefits that you may have earned.
A meal is served nightly from 6:00 - 8:00 PM for all scheduled Volunteers. Team Chair's will approve breaks to accommodate this meal time. If you have special health restrictions that will affect this process, please discuss in advance with your Chair.
Officials of the Common Ground Music Festival retain the right to dismiss volunteers who violate federal, state and/or local laws, Festival policy and guidelines, fail to follow the direction of festival staff, or are unable to follow the guidelines outlined within this booklet. Volunteers may also be dismissed for selling Common Ground Festival credentials and/ or benefits received in exchange for volunteering.
