COMMON GROUND MUSIC FESTIVAL…MORE THAN GREAT MUSIC
Lansing, MI— Officials announce that in addition to a great line-up this year, the Common Ground Music Festival, which will be held July 8 - 15, 2007, has much more to offer! The following events will be happening throughout Lansing:

  • M.A.S.K.S., Saturday & Sunday, July 14th & 15th
  • Common Ground Softball Tournament, Saturday & Sunday, July 14th & 15th
  •  bibo! Ultimate 4 v 4 Soccer, Saturday & Sunday, July 14th & 15th
  • Common Crit, Sunday, July 15th

M.A.S.K.S.
The Common Ground Music Festival and Modern Skate & Surf proudly announce the return of the sixth annual Michigan Amateur Skate Kontest Series at Ranney Park on Saturday, July 14th and on Sunday, July 15th. Ranney Park is located next to the Frandor Shopping Center at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Morgan Lane. For all you skateboard and in-line skate enthusiasts, you won’t want to miss this!

  • M.A.S.K.S. is the Michigan Amateur Skate Kontest Series which has been ongoing for about 10 years. This is a series of amateur skateboard and inline skate contests that culminates in the crowning of the amateur champion in each category for the state of Michigan.
  • The Common Ground M.A.S.K.S. event includes skating competitions of half pipe, street and bowl contests.
  • Thousands of dollars in prizes and gift certificates are given away.
  • Categories include 13 and under, 14 -19 and 20 and over. There is a $10 entry fee for all participants.
  • Spectators can watch these young athletes perform their aerial acrobatics free of charge at the world class Ranney Skate Park in Lansing, Michigan located on Michigan Avenue just east of US 127.

On Saturday, July 14th, the skateboard contest registration begins at 11:00 a.m. and the contest will start at 1:00 p.m. There will also be a Pro Skateboard Demonstration with the Modern Skate & Surf skateboard “Extreme Team.” On Sunday, July 15th, the inline skate contest registration begins at 11:00 a.m. and the contest will start at 1:00 p.m. For all the latest information on the Common Ground M.A.S.K.S. events at Ranney Park, please contact Modern Skate & Surf at (517) 337-3040

Common Ground Softball Tournament
On Saturday and Sunday, July 14th and 15th, the Common Ground Softball Tournament will be taking place at Gier and Davis fields. The tournament will be open to Men’s Upper and Lowers, as well as co-ed teams. There is a three game guarantee and the cost per team is $200. bibo! Ultimate 4 v 4 Soccer
The Common Ground Music Festival and bibo! Ultimate 4 v 4 Soccer are proud to bring the 4th Annual Common Ground 4 on 4 Soccer Tournament to the Capital City. The tournament will be held Saturday, July 14th and Sunday, July 15th at the Hope Soccer Complex, which is located at 5801 Aurelius Road in Lansing.

All ages and levels are invited to participate in the event. Games will be played over two days on multiple small-sided fields. The spacious grounds at Hope Soccer Complex provide ample opportunity for team and family gatherings and, of course, plenty of high scoring 4 on 4 soccer for everyone. A percent of all sponsor financial contributions are donated to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Lansing & Okemos Special Needs Camp.

In the spirit of promoting a deliberate and naturally creative style of attacking soccer, bibo! Ultimate 4V4 Soccer literally offers the ultimate soccer experience to youths of all ages and abilities. The game is a variation on traditional 4v4 soccer and borrows some popular technical and design elements from hockey, lacrosse and indoor soccer.

Common Crit
Returning to the festival this year is a bicycle race, referred to as the Common Crit. The race will take place on Sunday, July 15th near the Capitol Building. There are various events for men, women and children to participate in and win great prizes. Registration for the event is $30.
