- “Hinder” Oklahoma City quintet, Hinder, broke onto the music scene in 2004 after recording the band's self-released demo, Far From Close. They were noticed and signed by Universal Republic Records. In September 2005, they released their debut album, Extreme Behavior, which went gold in less than a year. Extreme Behavior's second single, "Lips of an Angel," reached the Top Ten on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles Chart and Top Five on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart. Other hot singles climbing the charts include “Get Stoned,” and “How Long.” The quintet is Austin Winkler (vocals), Joe 'Blower' Garvey (guitar), Mark King (guitar), Mike Rodden (bass), and Cody Hanson (drums).
- “Papa Roach” Their most recent album, The Paramour Sessions, the fifth full-length Papa Roach release of the past decade, and second for Geffen Records. Also known for their critically acclaimed and platinum-selling Getting Away With Murder , Papa Roach has already sold more than 10 million albums. Popular tunes include: To Be Loved,” Getting Away with Murder,” and “Last Resort.” The band includes Jacoby Shaddix (vocals), Jerry Horton (guitar), Tobin Esperance (bass), and Dave Buckner (drums). - “Romantics” Formed on the east side of Detroit during 1977, the Romantics inked a deal with the Nemperor/Epic label in 1979. The band's self-titled full-length debut surfaced a year later and is considered to be the quartet's best due to the inclusion of such gems as "When I Look in Your Eyes," "She's Got Everything," and one of the Romantics' best-known tracks: the power pop gem "That's What I Like About You." In Heat (1983) would become the Romantics' best-selling album, going gold shortly after its release, on the strength of such Top Ten hit singles as "Talking in Your Sleep" and "One in a Million."
- “Marshall Crenshaw” Hailed as a consummate pop-craftsman, Marshall Crenshaw's songs are filled with amusement, melancholy and regret . His debut record in 1982 teemed with great melodies and simple-yet-sharp lyrics, and spawned "Someday Someway," which became a big hit for Robert Gordon. Since then, Crenshaw has seen his songs covered by a wide range of artists, from the Nitty Gritty Dirt band to Bette Midler, and he has continued to make high-quality records on his own terms. The affable singer-songwriter is also known for playing John Lennon in the touring theatrical production of BEATLEMANIA and had an acting gig as Buddy Holly in the film, “La Bamba.”.
“The new rock of Hinder, Papa Roach and Buckcherry add to the traditional “huge” Friday night at the Common Ground Music Festival as they join .38 Special and the Guess Who!,” began Kevin Meyer, Festival Director, “and Michigan’s own Romantics and Marshal Crenshaw will be a surprisingly fun night!”
“We are very pleased to be adding these shows to the 2007 line up,” said Eric Hart, President of Center Park Productions, co-producer of the Common Ground Music Festival. “We continue in our focus to provide a variety of music that broadens our appeal to the greater Mid-Michigan area.”
The Common Ground Music Festival will be an eight day celebration including nightly concerts, a variety of fun family entertainment and an assortment of food vendors.
