Snoop Dogg - July 9thCapital City Airport West Main Stage
Grammy nominated, rapper, producer, actor, entrepreneur, and coach, Snoop Dogg, has revolutionized the hip hop world with his words and actions. Introduced to the world through Dr. Dre's
The Chronic, Snoop quickly became the most famous star in rap. He released his first album,
Doggystyle, in 1993 and it quickly became a success, being the first debut album to enter the charts at number one. It produced popular top-ten hits including, “What’s My Name?” and “Gin and Juice.” His latest album and ninth installment,
Ego Trippin’, was released in early March and the first single, “Sensual Seduction,” faired very well.
Snoop also became known as "Coach" to approximately 2500 kids in 12 local chapters throughout California for the Snoop Youth Football League (SYFL), a cause near and dear to his heart. As the owner and coach of the league, Snoop subsidizes approximately $2 million dollars annually to create extra curricular activities for children who may not otherwise have them, in the hopes of boosting their self-esteem, teaching them about teamwork and preparing them to become tomorrow’s leaders.
If you do not recognize Snoop's music, you may know him for his acting. He has his own reality show on the E! network called “Snoop Dogg's Father Hood: This Ain't the Huxtables,” and has acted in motion pictures like
Old School, Half Baked, Training Day, Malibu’s Most Wanted, Starsky & Hutch, Soul Plane, The Chapelle Show, and the voice of "Lighting" in
Racing Stripes. Whether he is making music, movies, commercials, videos, books, clothing, or drinks, just be keenly aware that the Dogg is making moves. His story is characterized by his gnomic style and displays of brutal honesty, coupled with a heavy dose of realism and a whole lot of fun.
