LANSING, Mich. — April 8, 2010 — Common Ground Music Festival, a Midwest
concert tradition, and Gillespie Group,
today announced a one-year partnership to shift the Festival’s second stage
back to the grounds of the old Lansing City Market. Construction on a
Washington Court building and adjacent parking lot, directly impacts the
Festival’s previous secondary entrance and second-stage seating area. The area is expected to be unavailable
throughout the Festival’s scheduled dates of July 12–18, 2010.
The
layout modification and resulting partnership between Center Park Productions
and Gillespie Group allows Festival organizers to continue providing a wide
variety of entertainment choices. It also supports officials’ long-time vision
of music diversity and a true “festival” experience.
"Common
Ground is one of the highlights of summer and Gillespie Group is excited to
partner with Center Park Productions to provide space for the second stage where
the Marketplace center will stand next year," said developer Pat Gillespie,
president of Gillespie Group. "With all the excitement surrounding the
area including the launch of the new City Market and improved River Walk path,
the area will be electric with community support downtown as well as throughout
the Stadium District."
“Common Ground Music Festival has built a
national reputation over the past 11 years for high-quality, diverse musical
performances,” commented Scott Keith, president of Center Park Productions. “Part
of that notoriety comes because we deliberately create two unique musical
experiences for Festival patrons; with two stages there is truly something for
everybody.”
The
Festival’s second stage is a hub for unique headline shows, up-and-coming
industry favorites and budding local artists.
